Red Cross Upgrades Disaster Equipment
Newark, NY Wednesday May 20, 2009– Through a grant from the Wal-Mart Foundation, the Wayne County Chapter has purchased a disaster trailer equipped with cots, blankets, and comfort kits for one-hundred and fifty people.
“We are very happy to be partnering with the Wal-Mart Foundation as we continue to improve our disaster response capabilities” stated Chapter Disaster Coordinator Woody Seufert.
I n addition to the disaster trailer, the Wal-Mart Foundation grant will also provide funds for disaster training for volunteers, development and equipping of fifteen shelter kits, and the placement of an Americorp/VISTA member.
The trailer will be parked at the Wayne County Emergency Management Office in Lyons.
The Chapter will also be looking for community groups interested in developing village or town specific shelter groups.
